Fender Blues Jr. Speaker Rating ??
Question:
Does anyone know the power rating of the Emminence speaker Fender uses in the Blues Jr ? The BJ is rated at 15 watts, but the speaker appears to be the same one used in the 40 watt HR Deluxe and it wouldn’t surprise me if they are one and the same. The speaker has no model number or any other ID or wattage rating on it. The BJ manual indicates " One 8 ohm Fender re-issue "Gold Label" speaker (Fender P/N 037617). If anyone has a HR Deluxe, please look in the the "Specifications" section in the back of your owners’ manual and see what speaker is used and let me know if it’s the same. Muchos gracias, in advance.

This Eminence speaker is used in a number of current production Fenders. It’s good for 40 or 50 Watts. However, it sounds like shit. If you really want to wake-up your current model Fender, throw in a WeberVST speaker.

The stock speaker in the Hr Deluxe does not sound like shit if you are using the clean channel. I have in fact replaced it with a Weber vst P12Q and found the stock speaker to sound much better. More low end. Maybe a P12N would have sounded better but Ted had problems getting his cone supplier to come through on the P12N. The P12Q did not improve the overdrive tone that much. (high end rolled off slightly) For all you Hr Deluxe owners out there who are thinking of trying a different speaker, if your happy with the clean sound of this amp don’t waste your time trying to better it with a different speaker. I think you are too hard on the F.A.T. fender gear. Not everyone can afford a boutique hand built amp or vintage gear. For the money it’s hard to beat the versatilty and tone offered by this product line. I would agree a P12R or Q Weber might sound nice in the Blues Jr. You might have problems getting it to fit. The P12R is rated at 15 watts, the P12Q at 20 watts, and the P12N is 35 watts, and the corresponding ceramic mag speakers are rated the same. You shouldn’t put any of those speakers in a 40 watt single 12 amp like the HR Deluxe unless you play at low levels all the time. If you want a Weber for that amp, you’ll have to go to one of the 80 watt series. As for the original question, any of the Weber P12Q/C12Q speakers or higher rated will work in the Blues Jr. A.T. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > The stock speaker in the Hr Deluxe does not sound like shit if you > are using the clean channel. Thanks again to all who answered my question on this matter, and provided additional information. I guess you can tell where I’m going on this. If the speaker is the same in both the BJ and HRD (and it seems it is), then it must be rated above 40 w; probably 50 or 60 w. Therefore, I can not only use the BJ as is, but also as an open back cabinet for a higher powered (50 watt) amp head whenever the need permits as long as I don’t run the head above 40 watts power out. The BJ has just become even more versatile, to me. Adios….Z
