I "have the impression" that store bought bubbles have some kind of sweetener in them, which makes me wonder if that’s why MY dog loves them so (either that or she’s just too ornery to retrieve anything…much more fun to chase and kill) Emily (not ~Emily)
Response:
I dunno if the milk will work, but if it looks like it’s going to, I wonder if less glycerin rather than more would be the ticket? Milk is that mucous-producing stuff, afterall.
Let us know how it works out. oooieoo

then see what I can get away with. Like Paul’s idea of milk; will try substituting it for water. Expecting it to require more glycerine, I bought a huge bottle, so I have plenty to play around with. Hope to sustain Mac’s interest; a ball-nut, he looks disappointed when he grabs a bubble and then has nothing in his mouth. I act like he’s done something wonderful, but he’s catching on to that.

Meant to try subbing it for the soap instead, using the glycerine to make the bubbles hold together better. — Paul C – Purebred…mix…their tails still wag the same and they’ll still grab your lunch. Scratch an ear anyways.

They’re going after the fat in soap. They chew wall for starch. j;~}

Hello paul, Seems to me Chris wanted to ENRICH the game, not settle for less than the best. I guess it all depends on what our value judgements are, huh? That’s why some of us settle for jerking and choking and confining dogs instead of proprly handling and training them. For some of us the reason is slovlinliness, for others laziness, and for others, simply a lack of human decency, morals, ethics, and principles… PICK ONE or ALL of ‘em. Bye! Jerry.

be added for scent.< Went looking for my recipe and it wasn’t where I thought I kept it–my oldest "kid" is 30 now….. it’s been awhile since that sucker’s been used. So, since the recipe I used was common among the Mom-types once upon a time, I went looking online. I found one that is just about the same as what I used to use. The exception is now they’re calling for Ultra Dawn as opposed to the "regular" Dawn dishsoap. Less soap is used though… so it’s probably exactly the same in the end. The recipe, taken from http://www.dawn-gets-grease.com/useful_tips.html: 1/2 cup Ultra Dawn 1/2 gallon warm water 1 tablespoon glycerin (available at any drug store) Stir gently. Skim the foam off the top of the solution (too much foam breaks down the bubbles). Dip bubble wand and begin blowing. Regarding the addition of scent: I don’t know how well that will work. The dishsoap is already scented and as I recall, the recipe seemed to be kind of delicately balanced. Too much or little of any ingredient and it just didn’t work as well. I also seem to remember that weather had a lot to do with how well it worked. Warm-not hot, preferably humid days made for great bubbles. HUGE bubbles! Have fun! oooieoo

Try milk…you ever blown bubbles in a carton in school? You get a good load of ‘em pouring out of the top. Add some glycerine to it to help hold ‘em together & it should do ok…you might need to thin it down some w/some water. — Paul C – Purebred…mix…their tails still wag the same and they’ll still grab your lunch. Now, this is serious, dammit. Mac and Pip have taken up pursuing soap bubbles – when it’s breezy, they get a good chase out of them. The commercial solutions taste bad (yes, I tried it). Anybody got a formula for "soapless" bubbles? They have glycerine in them, don’t they? What could replace soap? Mebbe a bit of fish-oil for flavor?

Hello Chris, I use commercial, candy flavored bubbles. I’ve got them right next to my crayons, and when I’m not busy busting hump here, I’m chasing bubbles with my pups. The fish oil sounds like a good idea, if you’re fond of fish. Your pal, Jerry.
